Welcome

I’ve done many things professionally, following a long and winding road through restoration sites in San Diego, milpas in Mexico, sand mines in South Africa, anaconda pits in the Amazon (ok, no anacondas, but, yes, much time in the Amazon), and nonprofits in New Mexico. The nub of it is I’m a freelance journalist, editor, and writer/researcher focused on all things “environmental” (whatever that means, say the high-brow scholars), particularly climate change and biodiversity.

This site is pretty spare on purpose (shout out to you minimalists!). Please review my Story Portfolio if you’re interested in my freelance work. If you're eager to collaborate with me on journalistic projects, please get in touch with me via the Contact page. My social media handles are below the fold. You can also get in touch with me at Internews’ Earth Journalism Network, where I work as a special projects editor. For previous academic work, cruise over to my ResearchGate page; it’s the only place people refer to me as "doctor.”

Thanks for dropping by!
